Snake River Savers Rally ‘Round the River in Last Stand for Salmon and Orca

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

Snake River Savers is on a big run to spawn extinction-thwarting campaign as U.S. Rep Simpson stands for breaching with all-in enterprise

For salmon and orca, as the window for action is coming to a close, the Endangered Species Coalition’s Chris Connolly is helping draw the public into political determinations for a future of Southern Resident killer whales and their partners in nature, salmon.

Hear details and background of the lower Snake River dams situation and U.S. Representative Mike Simpson’s pioneering announcement for breaching the dams. He has hyper-charged an initial concept with a $33.5 Billion anthro-mitigation package, offering access after 2030 to vast and cool high elevation spawning grounds into which the now dying salmon species once roamed.

Chris Connolly is the Pacific Northwest Field Representative for Endangered Species Coalition.

A virtual gathering, Rally ‘Round the River, was co-hosted by Endangered Species Coalition on February 25, 2021.

Featured speakers:

  • Julian Matthews and Lucinda Simpson, enrolled Nez Perce and board members of Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment

  • Dr. Deborah Giles, killer whale biologist and her famous assistant, the whale poop-smelling dog Eba

  • Fred Heutte, Northwest Energy Coalition, Senior Policy Associate
